Valentine's Day

After she woke up, a woman told her husband, "I just dreamed that you gave me a pearl necklace for Valentine's day. What do you think it means?"

"You'll know tonight." he said.

That evening, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it -- to find a book, entitled "The Meaning of Dreams".

Goober Love Poem

Collards is green
my dog's name is Blue
and I'm so lucky
to have a sweet thang like you.
Yore hair is like cornsilk
a-flapping in the breeze
Softer than Blue's
and without all them fleas.

You move like the bass,
which excite me in May.
You ain't got no scales
but I luv you anyway.

Yo're as satisfy'n as okry
jist a-fry'n in the pan.
Yo're as fragrant as "snuff"
right out of the can.

You have som'a yore teeth,
for which I am proud;
I hold my head high
when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions,
when you shave under yore arms,
well, I'm in hawg heaven,
and awed by yore charms.

Still them fellers at work,
they all want to know,
what I did to deserve
such a purdy, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape
yo're there fer yore man,
to patch up life's troubles
and fix what you can.

Yo're as cute as a junebug
a-buzzin' overhead.
You ain't mean like those far ants
I found in my bed.

Cut from the best cloth
like a plaid flannel shirt,
you spark up my life
more than a fresh load of dirt.

When you hold me real tight
like a padded gunrack,
my life is complete;
Ain't nuttin' I lack.

Yore complexion, it's perfection,
like the best vinyl sidin'.
despite all the years,
yore age, it keeps hidin'.

Me 'n' you's like a Moon Pie
with a RC cold drank,
we go together
like a skunk goes with stank.

Some men, they buy chocolate
for Valentine's Day;
They git it at Wal-Mart,
it's romantic that way.

Some men git roses
on that special day
from the cooler at Kroger.
"That's impressive," I say.

Some men buy fine diamonds
from a flea market booth.
"Diamonds are forever,"
they explain, suave and couth.

But for this man, honey,
these won't do.
Cause yo're too special,
you sweet thang you.

I got you a gift,
without taste nor odor,
more useful than diamonds...
IT'S A NEW TROLLIN' MOTOR!!

Say Something Positive

A husband and wife are getting ready for bed. The wife is standing in front of a full-length mirror taking a hard look at herself.

"You know, dear," she says, "I look in the mirror, and I see an old woman. My face is all wrinkled, my hair is grey, my shoulders are hunched over, I've got fat legs, and my arms are all flabby." She turns to her husband and says, "Tell me something positive to make me feel better about myself."

He studies hard for a moment thinking about it and then says in a soft, thoughtful voice, "Well, there's nothing wrong with your eyesight."

Services for the husband will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Anselm's Memorial Chapel.

The Parson's Ponderings: Speaking Multilingual Love
by Rev. Michael L. White

If you haven't read Dr. Gary Chapman's book, The Five Love Languages, you really need to read it. It's a book for all our loving relationships: spouses, children, parents, other relatives, and friends. Since St. Valentine's Day is a day we celebrate romance and matters of the heart, I'd like to recommend you get a copy for yourself, so you can learn to express your true love to your true love in a way that she or he will truly understand and appreciate.

As the title suggests, there are five basic ways we all feel and show love: words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, acts of service and physical touch. Dr. Chapman explains how we often show love in all five ways, but one will be our primary love language, the way we feel most loved when someone does this for us. Frequently, we will have a secondary love language, too, a way which comes in as a close second to our primary love language in the degree of affect on us. The Five Love Languages book will help you discern both your own primary love language and that of all your significant others. There are few gifts greater you can give to those you love than to express your deep affection for them in the way that means the very most to them. Mastering these principles will help make everyday a Happy Valentine's Day! Enjoy, and may God bless you!

This Issue's Web Tip

Are the links on web pages you visited a few days ago still appearing as purple rather than blue, even after you refresh the page repeatedly? This happens when you visit a web site and it is retained in your browser's history folder. To reset all links to the default blue in Internet Explorer (this won't work if a site's web designer has set the link color to something other than blue, however), choose Internet Options from the Tools menu and click on the "Clear History" button near the bottom right of that dialog. If you don't want web sites you've visited retained in the history folder, simply set the "Days to keep pages in history" to zero.

That's all there is to it. If you have questions, feel free to email me, and I'll do my best to give you answers. If I don't know, I can, at least, refer you to someone else who can help you.
